Stephen Dodd - (England) Volvo China Open Shanghai Silport - Shanghai - China - 25th to 28th November, 2004 Stephen Dodd picked up his first European Tour victory as he held off the challenge of Thomas Bjorn to win the Volvo China Open. An Asian Tour and European Tour co-sanctioned event, at Shanghai Silport Golf Club in China. Stephen climbed from Nº 229 to Nº 167 in the Ranking.

Stephen Gallacher - (Scotland) Dunhill Links Championship Old Course - St. Andrews - Carnoustie & Kingsbarns - Scotland - 7th to 10th October, 2004 Stephen Gallacher of Scotland clinched his first European Tour title with a play-off victory in the Dunhill Links Championship - the celebration of links golf - played over the Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns. Gallacher took the title from Graeme McDowell at the first extra hole with a birdie three. He climbed 89 places in the Ranking to 68th position while McDowell jumps 28 places to Nº 63.

Ernie Els - (South Africa) HSBC World Match Play Championship Wentworth - Virginia Water - Surrey - England - 14th to 17th October, 2004 Ernie Els defeated Lee Westwood by 2&1 in the final of the HSBC World Match Play Championship at Wentworth Club and in addition to winning the richest 1st Prize in Golf of £1 million he consolidates his position as the World Number 2. Lee Westwood climbed 9 places to 30th in the Ranking.

Sergio Garcia - (Spain) Mallorca Classic Pula - Son Servera - Mallorca - Spain - 14th to 17th October, 2004 Sergio Garcia delighted his home crowd with a victory at the Mallorca Classic at Pula Golf Club. Sergio Garcias third of the year placed him back into the World Rankings Top 10 suitably at Nº 10.

Richard Sterne then became Nº 202 in the Ranking List.

Ian Poulter - (England) Volvo Masters Andalucia Valderrama - Sotogrande - Spain - 28th to 31st October, 2004 Ian Poulter won the European Tours season ending Volvo Masters Andalucia at Valderrama in Spain. He gained his win on the first hole of a sudden death play-off with Sergio Garcia. This was Ian Poulters sixth European Tour victory and moved him from 55th to 35th in the Ranking. Sergio Garcia climbed one place to 9th in the World.

Luke Donald - (England) Omega European Masters Crans-sur-Sierre - Crans Montana - Switzerland - 2nd to 5th September, 2004 Luke Donald picked up his second European Tour title in just over a month as he held off Miguel Angel Jimenez to win the Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre in Switzerland. Luke Donald climbed to his highest ever position in the Official World Ranking at Nº 35.

Padraig Harrington - (Ireland) Linde German Masters Golf Club Gut Larchenhof - Cologne - Germany - 9th to 12th September, 2004 Padraig Harrington recovered from a double bogey start to his final round to claim the Linde German Masters at Gut Larchenhof from Australian Nick OHern. Harrington maintained his position as World Number 8 whilst OHern climbed to No 53 in the World Ranking.

A further two strokes back was fellow Swedish player Patrik Sjoland.

Ernie Els - (South Africa) WGC - American Express Championship Mount Juliet - Thomastown - Co. Kilkenny - Ireland - 30th to 3rd October, 2004 Ernie Els won the WGC - American Express Championship at Mount Juliet Conrad in Ireland from a resurgent Thomas Bjorn to capture his first individual World Golf Championships title. Ernie Els jumped to World Nº 2 while Thomas Born climbed 18 places to the 28th position in the World Golf Ranking list.

Gary Emerson - (England) BMW Russian Open Le Meridien Moscow - Moscow - Russia -12th to 15th August, 2004 Gary Emerson secured his first win on the European Tour at the BMW Russian Open. Weather delays earlier in that week meant that Emerson played 35 holes during the final day at Le Meridien Moscow Country Club. Gary moved up 123 places in the World Ranking to number 214.

Vijay Singh - (Fiji) US PGA Championship Whistling Straits - Kohler - Wisconsin - USA - 12th to 15th August, 2004 Vijay Singh won the 86th PGA Championship at Whistling Straits after a three hole playoff with Justin Leonard and Chris DiMarco. Vijay Singh overtook Ernie Els, who finished one stroke outside the playoff, and moves within 0.1 average points of Tiger Woods and the World Number One spot. Justin Leonard climbed 22 places to World Nº 25 while Chris DiMarco moved to Nº 17 and earned himself a place in the 2004 US Ryder Cup Team.

This was Miguel Angek Jimenezs fourth European Tour win of the season and moved him up 13 places to Nº 23.

It ended in a playoff between him and Ernie Els from South Africa with Phil Mickelson from the USA only one stroke further back.

Simon Kahn broke the Course Record with an 11-under-par 61 in round 2, jumped 114 places to Nº 141. Paul Casey advanced by three places Nº 27.

Barry Lane closed with a final round of 66 to take a three stroke victory over Argentinians Eduardo Romero and Angel Cabrera. Barry Lane became Nº 133, whilst Eduardo Romero and Angel Cabrera now occupy 60th and 76th positions respectively in the World Ranking.

Miguel Angel Jimenez - (Spain) BMW Asian Open Tomson Shanghai Pudong - Shanghai - China - 13th to 16th May, 2004 The European Tours first official visit to mainland China for the BMW Asian Open, co-sanctioned with the Asian Tour, provided as champion Spains Miguel Angel Jimenez who captured his third title of the 2004 season at the Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club. Miguel Angel Jimenez moved to Nº 35 in the World Ranking and became 2nd in the European Ryder Cup World Points List.

He won with a sensational eight-under-par final round of 64 claiming a two stroke victory over Argentinas Angel Cabrera. Scott Drummond jumped 340 places in the World Ranking to Nº 95.

Phil Mickelson - (USA) Masters Tournament Augusta National - Augusta - Georgia - USA - 8th to 11th April, 2004 In the first Major Championship of the 2004 season, Phil Mickelson birdied the final hole to win the 68th Masters Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta. The victory was the first Major Championship of Phil Mickelsons career and as a result the American moved to World No.6 in the latest World Ranking. Runner-up Ernie Els remained at No.3 but significantly closed the gap between himself and Vijay Singh at No.2. Koreas KJ Choi finished in outright 3rd place and became the No.20.

Joakim Haggman - (Sweden) Qatar Masters Doha - Qatar - 11th to 14th March, 2004 Joakim Haeggman captured his third European Tour title and his first in seven years as he fired a closing 65 to win the Qatar Masters at the Doha Golf Club. Joaquim Haeggman, the first Swedish golfer to compete in the Ryder Cup, moved up exactly 100 positions to No.123 that week in World Golf Ranking and became the 10th highest ranked Swedish golfer in the world. Nobuhito Sato from Japan finished as the outright runner-up and improved 41 spots to World No.143.

Ernie Els - (South Africa) Heineken Classic Royal Melbourne - Victoria - Australia - 5th to 8th February 2004 Ernie Els shot a final-round 74 as he claimed his third consecutive Heineken Classic title at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Victoria. Ernie Els improved his ranking average to 9.12 remaining in the World No.3 position. The South-African became only the fifth player in European Tour history to win an event three years in a row – following Ian Woosnam (Monte Carlo Open 1990-92), Nick Faldo (Irish Open 1991-93), Colin Montgomerie (Volvo PGA Championship 1998-2000) and Tiger Woods (WGC-NEC Invitational 1999-2001).

Brian Davis - (England) ANZ Championship Horizons - Port Stevens - Australia - 12th to 15th February, 2004 Brian Davis secured his second career European Tour victory when he won the the ANZ Championship at the Horizons Golf Club in New South Wales, Australia. Brian Davis finished the tournament with 44 points in the modified Stableford format and moved up 17 places to No.54 securing for himself an invitation for the his first World Golf Championship event – the 2004 Accenture Match Play Championship. Runner-up Paul Casey improved 4 places to No.27.

Thongchai Jaidee - (Thailand) Malaysian Open Saujana - Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia - 19th to 22nd February, 2004 Thongchai Jaidee created a piece of European Tour history as he became the first player from Thailand to win on the European Tour International schedule and the first Thai player ever to break into the Top 100 of the World Golf Ranking. His two stroke victory over Brad Kennedy in the Carlsberg Malaysian Open meant Jaidee improved 37 positions to No.78= and he also overtook Jyoti Randhawa at No.90 to become the second-highest ranked Asian in the world behind KJ Choi at World No.25.

Tiger Woods - (USA) WGC - Accenture Match Play La Costa - Carlsbad - California - USA - 25th to 29th February, 2004 In the first World Golf Championship event of the 2004 season, Tiger Woods overcame Davis Love III to successfully defend the Accenture Match Play Championship at the La Costa Resort and Spa in California. This win was Tiger Woods 8th World Golf Championship victory in 14 individual events and ensures that his lead at the top of the World Golf Ranking is 4.45. Runner-up Davis Love III moved up one position to No.4 while Ulsterman Darren Clarke won the third place play-off to finish as the top European and remained at No.13.

Marcel Siem - (Germany) Dunhill Championship Houghton - Johannesburg - South Africa - 22nd to 25th January, 2004 The Dunhill Championship in Johannesburg ended in a tight playoff between Marcel Siem from Germany and two French golfers, Gregory Havret and Raphael Jacquelin. However, Marcel Siem carried the day and added to his total of European Tour wins.

Padraig Harrington - (Ireland) Omega Hong Kong Open Hong Kong - Fanling - Hong Kong - 4th to 7th December, 2003 Irish golfer Padraig Harrington took the win at the Hong Kong Open on the European Tour when he defeated South African Otto Hennie by just one stroke. Three strokes further back was the group consisting of Thomas Bjorn, Darren Clarke, Chris Gane and Freddie Jacobson.

Tiger Woods - (USA) WGC - American Express Championship Capital City - Atlanta - USA - 2nd to 5th October, 2003 World Number One Tiger Woods finished on 6 under par to win the American Express Championship in Woodstock, Georgia. The victory was Tiger Woods 52nd worldwide and his seventh in 13 World Golf Championship starts since the series began in 1999, The $1,050,000 he earned that week meant he topped the US PGA Tour money list. Despite six International victories in 2003, Ernie Els was still 7.18 points behind Tiger Woods at the summit of the World Golf Ranking. Stuart Appleby, Tim Herron and Vijay Singh were all runners-up that week. Stuart Appleby improved 17 positions to No.20, Tim Herron moved up 23 spots and moved into the Top 50 at No.43. Vijay Singh remained in No.3 position but was only 0.62 points behind Ernie Els at No.2.

Maarten Lafeber - (Holland) Dutch Open Hilversumsche - Hilversum - The Netherlands - 9th to 12th October, 2003 In the European Tour this week, Maarten Lafeber delighted the home crowds as he became the first home winner of the Dutch Open for 56 years with a one-stroke victory over Denmarks Soren Hansen and Mathias Gronberg of Sweden. Maarten Lafeber improved by 65 places to rank No.108 and is now the 28th highest-ranked European in the world and remains the top-ranked Dutch player.

Miguel Angel Jimenez - (Spain) Turespana Mallorca Classic Pula - Son Servera - Mallorca - Spain - 16th to 19th October, 2003 In the Turespana Mallorca Classic, Miguel Angel Jimenez secured a home victory beating compatriot Jose Maria Olazabal by one shot. As a consequence of this victory, Miguel improved 27 places and returned to Top 100 at No.98. He remained the fourth-highest ranked Spaniard on the World Ranking after Sergio Garcia (28), Ignacio Garrido (80) and Jose Maria Olazabal (92).
