Paul Casey - (England) Volvo China Open Shenzhen - Shenzhen - China - 24th to 27th November, 2005 Paul Casey won in China for the second time this year as he surged through the field with a final round of 65, then defeated Oliver Wilson at the first hole of a sudden death playoff to win the Volvo China Open. Paul Casey broke back into the Top 50 in Nº 49 place, a move up of 12 places.

Jose Manuel Lara tied second with Paul Broadhurst. Jose Maria Olazabal improved his Ranking by 10 positions and became Nº 28.

Paul McGinley - (Ireland) Volvo Masters Valderrama - Sotogrande - Spain - 27th to 30th October, 2005 Paul McGinley finished the 2005 European Tour Season in style with his victory at the Volvo Masters at Valderrama. Bogey free for the last 53 holes the Irishman held off the challenge of World Nº 6, Sergio Garcia, who finished 2 strokes behind in second place. Paul McGinley entered into the World Top 20 with an 8 place move up to Nº 18.

Sergio Garcia - (Spain) SUI Omega European Masters Crans-sur-Sierre - Crans Montana - Switzerland - 1st to 4th September, 2005 Sergio Garcia won the Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre with a final round of 68. The chip-in on the par 3 16th hole helped the Spaniard win from Swedens Peter Gustafsson whose closing round of 64 was the best round of that day.

Michael Campbell moved up one place to Nº 15 while Paul McGinley brook into the World Top 30 for the first time at Nº 29.

Colin Montgomerie - (Scotland) Dunhill Links Championship Old Course - St. Andrews - Carnoustie & Kingsbarns - Scotland - 29th to 2nd October, 2005 Colin Montgomerie won the Dunhill Links Championship played on St. Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, and by doing so climbed back into the World Top 20 Ranking at 16th position. Colin Montgomerie ended up only one stroke less than Kenneth Ferrie form England.

Emanuele Canonica - (Italy) Johnnie Walker Championship Gleneagles - Perthshire - Scotland - 4th to 7th August, 2005 Italys Emanuele Canonica picked up his first European Tour title in 14 years when he won the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles by two strokes from a group of three players, Nicolas Colsaerts, Bradley Dredge and Barry Lane. Emanuele Canonica then broke into the World Top 200 in 197th place.

Mikael Lundberg - (Sweden) The Cadillac Russian Open Le Meridien Moscow - Moscow - Russia - 11th to 14th August, 2005 Mikael Lundberg won the Cadillac Russian Open, a Dual Ranking event on the European and Challenge Tours played at the Le Meridien Moscow Country Club, with a birdie at the fourth extra hole in a playoff with Andrew Butterfield. Mikael Lundberg then moved up to Nº 304 in the Ranking.

Phil Mickelson - (USA) US PGA Championship Baltusrol - Springfield - New Jersey - USA - 11th to 14th August, 2005 Phil Mickelson picked up the second major Championship of his career at the delayed 87th PGA Championship at Baltusrol, New Jersey. Twelve players had to return to complete their final rounds on Monday morning with Phil Mickelson winning by a single stroke from Thomas Bjorn and Steve Elkington thanks to a birdie on the 18th. Phil Mickelson displaced injured Ernie Els at Nº 3, whilst Thomas Bjorn moved up 10 places to Nº 21, and Steve Elkington leaped 81 places to Nº 48.

Tiger Woods - (USA) WGC - NEC Invitational Firestone - Akron - Ohio - USA - 18th to 21st August, 2005 Tiger Woods won the WGC-NEC Invitational at Firestone Country Club by a stroke from Chris DiMarco completing his fourth victory in this event and claiming his ninth World Golf Championship. With this win Tiger Woods has amassed more than 600 Official World Golf Ranking points this year.

The win took David Howell to a career high position of Nº 22, an improvement of 8 places.

Tiger Woods finished five strokes less than Scotsman Colin Montgomerie with Fred Couples and with Jose Maria Olazabal a further stoke behind.

Two strokes back were John Daly from the USA and Stephen Gallacher from Scotland.

Tiger Woods - (USA) Masters Tournament Augusta National - Augusta - Georgia - USA - 7th to 10th April, 2005 Tiger Woods won his sudden death play-off against Chris DiMarco with a birdie at the first extra hole to claim the 2005 Masters Tournament. This was his fourth Green Jacket and his ninth Major Championship Victory. Tiger Woods returned to World Nº 1 and began his 337th week and 9th spell at the top of the ladder. Chris DiMarco, who carded an excellent 68 in the final round to make the playoff, moved up 8 places into the Nº 7 position for the first time.

Ernie Els - (South Africa) Dubai Desert Classic Emirates - Dubai - United Arab Emirates - 3rd to 6th March, 2005 Ernie Els produced a spectacular eagle on the final hole of the Dubai Desert Classic at the Emirates to overtake Miguel Angel Jimenez and Stephen Dodd to win by a single stroke. Ernie Els remained third in the world but was only about half an average point behind Vijay Singh and about one point behind the new Nº 1 Tiger Woods.

A closing two under par 70 gave him a 21 under par total of 267, three clear of Indias Jyoti Randhawa with Swedens Henrik Stenson, both a further shot adrift. Thongchai Jaidee climbed to Nº 58 with a move up of 32 places.

Fellow American golfer Tiger Woods who arrived with the intention of winning his third WGC Accenture Match Play failed in his attempt being placed seventeenth at the end of play.

Nick Dougherty - (England) Caltex Masters Singapore 2005 Laguna National - Tampines - Singapore - 27th to 30th January, 2005 Nick Dougherty held off the challenge from final round playing partners Colin Montgomerie and Thomas Bjorn to win the Caltex Masters in Singapore. Dougherty held a one stroke lead with three to play but eventually secured a five stroke win thanks to two birdies in the final three holes. Nick Dougherty moved up 197 places by this win to be placed in 163rd place in the Rankings.
